Josh, Tracy, Lorelai and I worked service for Erik and Adam. On the way to the service area to set-up, we stopped at SS3 to watch the cars. After Erik and Adam went by, we ran to our vehicles and headed to the service area. A few minutes later, Josh received a call from Adam....he said "the bad news is we didn't get it on tape, the good news is we are okay.". I waited with the Audi and Lorelai at the end of stage 3 while Josh and Tracy drove back to Bemidji for the trailer. After waiting for almost an hour, the sweeps and green light cleared the stage. By now, Melanie and the girls showed up in the WRX. We hopped in our cars and drove into the stage to check on the guys and the car. I found Adam and Erik on the side of the rode talking to Martin and his co-driver.....the car was not in sight. I parked and hopped out. I walked over by them and peaked down. In finish control, Adam and Erik rolled down a cliff (about 40 feet)....over some trees and boulders and landed on the wheels between a couple of trees. Jake, Jason, and Jared arrived to lend muscle. It took 4-5 hours, but we were able to bring up the car and trailer it. Then we all drove back to Bemidji for the pizza party at headquarters. It is time to say good-bye to the yellow car. The guys will begin building another for next year.
Other drivers had just as much bad luck. Pastrana barely won - even though he encountered two flat tires on different stages.
