Last 2 days in the UK!

I am not even sure where to start this post! Soooo much to say today. First of all, my driver will pick me up in 10 hours to bring me to the airport and then 16 hours later I should be pulling into my driveway! Yesterday was my last day at the office here. I was swamped with work and soooo tired I could not carry on a conversation without yawning every minute…everyone just chuckled…oh well! I went for my last walk thru Elland and tried a different lunch place. I also stopped and purchased the British version of Cosmo! I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but am looking forward to checking it out on one of my flights tomorrow. Two of my co-workers here brought me out to dinner last night and we were at the restaurant for 4.5 hours! We had sooo much fun and I even ate! I know you are all shocked that I enjoyed my Greek meal A LOT!

Today…woke up a little late – missed breakfast! Got my ride to the train station and hopped on for a lovely trip to York! I then walked around York for then next 11 hours! I had a blast – check out the pictures below. First, I walked to the York City River Boat Tour and took a lovely tour on the Ouse River. Then I walked the city walls – York is a walled city, and I walked around the city along the wall!!! WAY COOL! I walked through the Shambles, walked to the York Minstry, and checked out all the awesome shops. I continued to explore York and ended up on a super busy street and not much was around…not sure where I was, I stopped at a crosswalk and waited to walk…as I was waiting I looked up when I heard the sound of a rally car. I would know that sound anywhere! Sure enough this cute Britt driving a World Rally Championship Subaru (nummber 33) pulled into the parking ramp in front of me! Of course…me being the shy person that I am (NOT) found him in the parking ramp and we started talking cars and rally. He was late for a meeting, but still took time out to make this American girl’s day! Of course I took pictures of his car (below). I was floating on cloud nine the rest of the day. I said good-bye and found my way to the York Dungeons. I enjoyed the York Dungeons and learned more about York history. I explored York a little more as I made my way back to the Rail Station for my train back to Huddersfield. It was a wonderful but exhausting day.
As someone pointed out on Facebook, I have to share the story on the trouser press from the first day I arrived in the UK! Well…I didn’t want to try the trouser press with my work pants for fear of ruining them. So, I tried it with my jeans instead. I was quite disappointed…it did not work very well at all. However, I did take pictures of my pants in the trouser press and with the press open…they too are below!

Lets talk about some strange signs I have seen while I have been here. I have posted some already, and I have more below. I also found three establishments that had names that made you go “Really?! Did I read that correctly?” Look for those below too…you shall get a chuckle as I did. I only took pics of 2 of them unfortunately.

My feet hurt, I am tired, my hotel room is packed up, and I am counting down the hours till I start the long journey home!

The boat ride I went on...and pictured from the boat ride. I will update later with what everything is.

The City Walk...walking the walled city of York

Okay....MANY people told me to come home with a hot English guy with a cute accent...this is a pretty hot street performer bound by chains..hmmm I have video of him too but I will upload that tomorrow.

You can't see the numbers in my picture, but they tell drivers how many parking spaces are in eack car park! These signs are everywhere in York.

Another (WHAT?!) name of a donut place

I rotated it when I uploaded it so I don't know why it is sideways...anyway look at the name of this restaurant! I laughed pretty hard and then the next one I saw was named "Cock and Bottle" I did not get a picture of that one though.

The York Minster! It is too huge for me to get a picture of the entire thing...boy is it beautiful

Inside the York Minster

This is the vehicle of my new WRC friend! He lives in York and is sooo nice!

The York Dungeons! They wouldn't allow pictures inside...so this is all you get.

The Trouser Press Experiment ;-) (it FAILED)
