A quick jaunt?! What is that? More like over a fence, along the river, up a couple of miles of hills, across a roundabout and into the sandwich shop! Yes, that is what three lovely gentlemen refer to as a “quick jaunt”. I didn’t have the heart to tell them I did not consider a 20+ minute hike a “quick jaunt”. Oh well…it was good exercise and a lovely walk! Tomorrow when I do it I will take pictures I promise. In any event…we made it to the sandwich shop for lunch and well…the next story will have you all laughing!
Plain?! Apparently England sandwich makers have yet to meet ME! I tried to get a ham sandwich for lunch (and most of you know I like simple things – give me bread, meat, bread in that order and my vegetables in a dressing free side….no veggies or sauce stuff on my sandwiches please)…well it didn’t work out so well for me this time. Apparently in Yorkshire bread is called T-Cake….if you order a plain ham T-cake you get a ham sandwich with a TON of fake butter on both sides of the bread. I mean she caked it on…so much so that I used Kleenex (yes Kleenex was all I could find at the office) to scrape it off so the sandwich was mostly edibile. Tomorrow for lunch I might try a different place!
The work day continued without incident…I am getting strange “US HR Girl” stares from the employees here….otherwise uneventful.
My office…here are pictures of the office I am working in…enjoy these and then continue reading about the rest of my day!

Made it back to my hotel easily and unloaded my work stuff…I then ventured out on a VERY long and LOVELY walk around Huddersfield (at least that is the town I think I walked through!) Apparently the front desk chicks here have no clue what there is for restaurants around here! Everytime I ask they refer me to the lovely in-house restaurant that doesn’t open till 7PM! So tonight I took matters into my own hands and started walking…hoping that I was walking in the vicinity of a food place (since breakfast didn’t happen and lunch was not that great I was STARVING – this whole eating more than once a day thing is annoying!). Alas I found a lovely food place and met some nice people there. I was still in work clothes (very high heels) but that didn’t stop me from continuing my adventure. I walked up and down hills crossed two roundabouts and eventually found my way to the Petrol station where I purchased some items. I enjoyed the lovely views as I walked and ended up back at my hotel 2+ hours after I left! I relaxed in the sauna, then took a quick swim, sat in the hot tub (while reading my book), and ended my relaxing visit with a visit to the steam room! Perfect way to ease aching feet that hiked for 2 hours in heels…yeah wasn’t the smartest move I have ever made. After you enjoy my pictures, read down to see what the rest of the week holds! Here are some pictures I took of my walk:
I am falling in love with the England "Flats"

The houses on my walk all had these old-fashioned iron gates that looked so cool!
Just look at how beautiful this view is...the house set way in the back and all the green!
Closer up of some of the flats and cars parked on the right (but wrong) side of the road :-)
